A MESSAGE FROM MICHELLE

We'll work together to co-create a psychotherapy experience that feels deeply rich and valuable to you. We'll meet over secure video weekly or every other week. Between sessions, you'll receive individualized homework and be able to contact me directly via secure messaging for additional support as needed. Throughout the process, you'll enjoy deep care and support and lots of compassionate attention. Generally, I work with people from three months to a year.

Psychotherapy can help when...

  • you feel stuck/dissatisfied with your life

  • you are in the midst of a challenging transition

  • you feel that you're not living up to your full potential

  • you want to improve communication/relationships

  • you are overly stressed with conflicts at home/work

  • you are feeling sad, depressed, anxious

Sessions are…

  • Over video using a private and secure Client Portal

  • $250 USD for a 50-minute session

  • in English or Spanish

Working together includes…

  • Access to a Secure Client Portal. Inside the portal, you’ll be able to communicate directly with Michelle for secure video sessions and via secure messaging between sessions. You’ll also have access to online scheduling, online payment processing, and manage all paperwork virtually for a streamlined, easy process.

  • Access to a secure APP for the Client Portal. The secure Client Portal and all its features are also easily accessible via a secure app right on your phone.

FAQs

  • We will engage in a therapeutic process, same as if meeting in person, except you will have access to a secure Client Portal where we’ll meet for a session over secure video.

You’ll need a good internet connection, a webcam (such as the one on your computer or phone), and a comfortable and private place from where you feel comfortable having your session (such as your comfy room at your home).

This is a great option for people wanting to engage in therapy from the comfort of their own homes or while traveling.

To ensure security and privacy, all of our work together will be through a fully paperless and HIPAA compliant Client Portal through the Simple Practice platform.

Video therapy might not be suitable for all individuals, circumstances, or issues, and this is something we can discuss during your Free Phone Consult, to ensure working over video is a good fit for you.

  • Whole-listic psychotherapy comes from the perspective that each being is already whole. It focuses on the “wholeness” of you as being greater than the challenge for which you seek support. Our work together - within sessions and as “homework” between sessions - will feature a customized blend of the following:

    Talk therapy

    Breathing practices

    Relaxation exercises

    Guided Visualization

    Meditation

    Guided imagery

    Compassionate journaling

    Assertiveness training

    Anxiety and stress management practices

    Mindfulness and compassion techniques

    Somatic/body awareness exercises

    Aromatherapy (essential oils)

    Exploration of spirituality

    Mindful movement

    Restorative yoga

    Creative therapies

  • My work is influenced by ongoing training and interest in the following:

    Person-Centered

    Internal Family Systems

    Mindful Self-Compassion

    Relational Cultural Theory

    Compassion Focused Therapy

Yoga Therapy work by Bo Forbes

    Somatic, Nervous System Informed

    Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

    Strength-Based / Positive Psychology

The Daring Way work by Brene Brown

    Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

  • 01 GROUNDING

We'll open and close sessions with a combination of embodiment practices: mindful check-in, breathing exercises, restorative yoga postures, mindful self-compassion exercises.

    02 CONVERSATION

Slow down for an in-depth, enlightening conversation about issues you are navigating, compassionately explore and identify what is not serving you, and learn new ways of being that sustainably promote the positive changes you desire.

    03 CREATE POSSIBILITY

By exploring perspective-shifting questions, you'll gain clarity, uncover what possibilities are available to you, and strategize on how to seize these opportunities.

    04 COLLABORATION

You'll provide feedback after each session to enrich our work together. We'll end the session with an embodiment practice, to assure that you leave grounded and ready to positively continue with your day.

    05 TAKE COMPASSIONATE, CONSCIOUS ACTION

Leave each session feeling supported, motivated and with greater clarity on the specific actions you'll take between sessions to move in a meaningful direction.

    06 THRIVE

Between sessions, we'll stay in touch via secure messaging. You'll receive encouragement, accountability, and resources to keep you focused, calm, and clear as you follow your action plan.

  • At this time my reduced fee slots are filled.

Several spots are reserved for a reduced fee, depending on combined household income. Reduced fees are subject to reassessment as often as every 3 to 6 months or when your financial circumstances change. If I’m not able to work with you at this time, I will do my best to provide referrals to local, trusted clinicians.

  • I am an in-network provider only for Brown Student Health Resource insurance.

I am an out-of-network provider for all other insurances and do not directly bill your insurance.

If you opt to use your out-of-network benefits, you would pay me directly the full fee at each session, and I can provide you with a ”superbill” which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Some insurance plans will reimburse for some of the cost of out-of-network providers. Please contact your insurance to find out if you are eligible for out-of-network benefits. When calling your insurance, they might ask which CPT codes will be used. You can tell them the CPT code will be 90834.

Therapy is a deductible expense for your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flex Spending Accounts. Please contact your HSA provider with any questions about this.

Learn more about how to use your out-of-network benefits here.

If you are looking for a provider who is in-network with your insurance, I recommend you:

    1) Call your insurance and ask for a list of in-network mental health providers.

    (2) Visit Zencare.co or PsychologyToday.com and filter your search for providers that accept your insurance.

    (3) Consider other lower-fee counseling resources, such as The Providence Center and Open Path.

  • You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, healthcare providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

Make sure your healthcare provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.
